First-time Newborns

Congratulations on the upcoming arrival of your new baby, and thank you for considering Alger Pediatrics for your child’s care. Below is some information about the process of registering a first-time newborn with our office.

Immunizations:

All our doctors follow the CDC guidelines and schedule for immunizations, listed here. If you have chosen not to vaccinate or would prefer to follow an alternative vaccine schedule, our office would not be a good fit for you and we ask that you look elsewhere for pediatric care.

Insurance:

Please verify that our office accepts your insurance. Our insurance participation is detailed under the “insurance" tab at the top of the page.

Choose a doctor:

Please call our office to find out which of our pediatricians are currently accepting first-time newborns. We ask that you get to know our physicians through their profiles under the “our team” tab at the top of the page, as their schedules unfortunately do not allow time for in-person meet-and-greets.

Once you have chosen your doctor, let your OB/GYN and the nurse in the delivery room at the hospital know that you’ve chosen Alger Pediatrics, and which doctor you’ll be seeing.

Hospital visit:

Our doctors round at Spectrum Butterworth and Mercy Health St. Mary’s. If you deliver at one of these locations, the hospital will notify our office when the baby is born. One of our physicians will visit you in the hospital the following day and let you know which day they’d like to see you in our office for the first newborn appointment. If you deliver elsewhere, please call us upon discharge and we will schedule an appointment for you.

Transfer Patients

Thank you for your interest in transferring your child’s care to Alger Pediatrics. Below is some information about the process of transferring to our office.

All our doctors follow the CDC guidelines and schedule for immunizations, listed here. If you have chosen not to vaccinate or are following an alternative vaccine schedule, our office would not be a good fit for you and we ask that you look elsewhere for pediatric care.

Insurance:

Please verify that our office accepts your current insurance. Our insurance participation is detailed under the “insurance and billing” tab at the top of the page.

Choose a doctor:

Please call our office to find out which of our pediatricians are currently accepting transfers. We ask that you get to know our physicians through their profiles under the “our team” tab at the top of the page, as their schedules unfortunately do not allow time for in-person meet-and-greets.

Transfer records:

Once you’ve chosen a doctor, please contact your child’s current pediatrician to have their records sent to our office. We ask that you allow up to a week for this process.

It is important that the doctor be able to review your child’s health history before their first visit. For this reason, we are unable to schedule an appointment before we have received your child’s medical records.

Schedule an appointment:

Once we have received your child’s records, we can get them registered in our system and schedule any necessary appointments.
